Born in Harlem, New York, Taifa “Harmony” Bartz, has been singing and dancing since she was 2 years old and she began her acting and modeling career at the age of 9. Her father, jazz saxophonist and Grammy winner Gary Bartz, introduced her to a wide variety of music at a very young age. She formed her first band while still in high school and was so active in the arts, she was given recognition as one of Who's Who in Music at the age of 17.
Her band, The Harmony Experience!, is an explosion of straight-ahead jazz, blues, neo-soul, r&b, and funk with her jazzy vocal stylings woven through every song. Harmony and her band are in high demand and they are considered one of the hottest live bands in the tri-state area.
Harmony has performed at many well-known venues including Minton’s, Grant’s Tomb, The Shrine, Silvana’s, Hamilton’s Bar & Kitchen, MACC Bar, Smalls, Williamsburg Music Center, Charlie’s Place, The Porch, and Patrick’s Place.
She has also been in high demand at many music festivals and celebrations including: The Fort Greene Jazz Festival - Brooklyn, Old-Timer’s Festival at Crotona Park - Bronx, The International African Arts Festival - Brooklyn, Uptown Night Market - Harlem, Bronx Night Market and Harlem Week. Her concert at Tunes on Tuesday in Co-op City was given rave reviews and an article written in the Co-op Times described Harmony’s performance as “electrifying”.
