This Memorial Day we remember “The Lion of Lenox Avenue,” Charlie Rangel, who died today at age 94. He was born in Harlem, earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star in the U.S. Army, and served Harlem as an elected representative for a half-century; first in the New York State Assembly from 1967 to 1971 and then in the U.S. Congress from 1971 - 2017, where he was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Farewell to a man who spent the majority of his life representing Harlem.
